Time Required

Minimum Time: 90 Minutes

Maximum Time:

  • Employer-coordinated events may last 4-6 hours.

  • Raise the Bar-organized events last up to 2 hours per location.

  • School-requested tours may last up to 2 hours.

Professionals Requested

Raise the Bar suggests that tours include offices, production floors (if applicable), meeting rooms, and any other appropriate spaces (e.g., warehouse, transportation bays, etc.).

Raise the Bar also encourages professionals at all levels of their career to speak with visitors about their job, career journey, and expectations.

Number Needed

On average, Raise the Bar needs 20 employers across different industries to open their doors annually for workplace tours.

Audience

Generally, workplace tours are organized for high school and college students. Additional experiences may be organized for Hancock County’s educators.

Preparation and Follow-Up

Raise the Bar can help coordinate conversations and hands-on experiences while touring (if applicable). Preparation requires communicating internally, planning for safety, and organizing presenters.

Follow-up should include leaving contact information with the schools in case of student questions.

The Value

People need to see the workplace to picture themselves in it. Workplace tours build early familiarity and trust, making it more likely that future talent considers the employers who’ve opened their doors for an inside look.
